Mobbing at the workplace

   Mobbing at the workplace is a sad everyday fact for at least 35% of employees directly, and another 20% indirectly witnessing it or actively supporting it. Bullying and mobbing results in serious psychological and health effects directly responsible for absenteeism and psychosomatic issues, especially when added to the already existing work related stress. The reasons for such behavior come from lacking moral and value education in schools and a lack of emotionally stable family background with a parental example of core values. This brings about often intelligent but emotionally damaged and immoral or mean and insidious characters who are happy to sacrifice anybody for their professional goals and social climbing. Main effects are depressions, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder or even obsession also influencing personal life. Health effects can be headaches or problems with digestion and heart function, damaged immune system, but also increasingly violent behavior etc. What can we do? Understanding the battleground is the first step. Developing the right kind of mental and emotional weaponry and strategic tools is an elemental necessity to not only survive the job but also to stand up to the sick corporate culture or corporate psychopaths and sociopaths.    I see two ways there. First one is at the company's level. "Employee friendly" company shall have this topic clarified on the top management level and incorporated in internal culture (and not just formally) with zero tolerance level. The second way is the individual level. Here it is about taking full responsibility for our life and never agree with "victim position". The particular solution depends on the existing situation and one of the efficient ways to find it might be coaching.
