Time scheduling

Success Problem

Time scheduling is a project manager’s and project team task, belonging to the project manager’s task group: project time management.

Impact

The methods of project time management are bar chart method (Gantt chart) combined with Metra potential method, Critical path method (CPM), PERT method, Critical chain method (CCM) etc.

Recommendation

Time scheduling includes following steps: 1) Scheduling without constraints (the result is starting project schedule), 2) Conditional scheduling (the result is interim project schedule), 3) Risk mitigation (the result is basic project schedule). Scheduling without constraints is done at the planning start without respecting project constraints e.g. through dates or resource availibility etc. Conditional scheduling is already respecting all relevant project constraints. Risk mitigation updates the interim project schedule using the results of the project risk mitigation.
