What is the difference between resource leveling and resource scheduling

Impact

In the resource leveling it is impossible to postpone the project end date contrary to the resource scheduling.

Recommendation

Resource leveling is the determination of start dates and of end dates, or of activity durations so that the project resource histograms are continuous. Resource scheduling is determination of the start dates and end dates, res-pectively activity durations so, that the resource histogram for individual types of resources nowhere exceed the resource awailabilty. In contrast to the resource leveling it is possible to postpone the project end date in order to respect the resource availabilty. The activities can be postponed (or prolonged) also over the total float of the activity.
