Impact

Project phases are used to control the project execution from the point of view of its objectives. Project management process is used to control the project execution from the point of view of its content.

Recommendation

Project phase is product oriented and by milestones limited sequence of timely, organizationaly and technolgicaly related project activities, needed for a project output. The sequence of all phases is the project life cycle. Specific product types have different project life cycles. The project management cycle is the sequence of five process groups: project initiation, project planning, project execution with project control and project closure. Project management cycle is the same for all types of project products. Unlike project life cycle the project management cycle doesn‘t depend on the product type.
