However, the use of opportunity can sometimes also leed to losses.

Recommendation

Opportunity exploitation is the search, planning and realization of measures for increasing the opportunity probability and for increasing its positive influence to the project success. Opportunity avoidance is the project manager’s decision not to use the opportunity because its contribution is negligible compared with the costs for the opportunity exploitation or because the measures are not possible to realize economically even after requesting the superiors assistance. Opportunity avoidance is also personel attribute, based on carefull attitude to the use of the opportunities. However, the opportunity avoidance can be seen also as opportunity omittance, if it was the result of inattention or if the justification of such decision is lightweight, or motivated through project manager’s unwillingness to care for the opportunity exploitation.
