Any problem with some project has many causes, which are hierarchically arranged as sequences of subproblems and their causes.

Impact

Usually it is a very complicated task to prepare a good project plan, respecting all possible future situations.

Recommendation

For analysing the sequences of subproblems and their causes you can use the „Fish bone diagramme“ (Ishikawa diagramme). It is a grafical presentation of causes and consequences of some event. See also the FMEA method.
