Success Problem
Is there any difference between coaching and managing?
Impact
Yes, it is. A manager has control of an institution, business, etc., or of its part. A manager controls and manipulates resources and expenditures. A coach is focused on developing people. A coach does not position himself or herself as superior, but more as a facilitator of success.
Recommendation
The International Coach Federation (ICF) defines coaching as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential. Coaching is targeted development of abilities and skills of individuals and teams direct in work. Coach incentives the thinking through the questions about the connections of the work with knowledge gained from studium and experience. Coach makes use of the motivation to improve the performance of an individual. Wide-spread coaching method is GROW: Goal, Reality, Opportunity and Will to reach the goal.
